Russia Earthquake: A powerful 8.7 magnitude earthquake struck off Russia’s remote Kamchatka Peninsula on Wednesday, prompting widespread tsunami warnings.

The quake's epicenter was 85 miles from Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky at a depth of 19 km. Russia and Japan issued tsunami advisories, warning of waves up to 1 meter. The Pacific Tsunami Warning Center cautioned about possible hazardous waves across the region. Parts of Alaska, Hawaii, and the Northern Mariana Islands were also placed on alert. Evacuations began in Russia’s Sakhalin Island. So far, minimal damage has been reported, but authorities remain on high alert.
