New base, reworked weights: Retail inflation at 2.8% in January
India's retail inflation stood at 2.8% in January under a new data series with an upgraded base year to 2024 and reduced food weightage. The revised Consumer Price Index (CPI) incorporates more items, including rural house rent and digital services, reflecting evolving consumption patterns.
